What are your hours?

 Our hours are currently Saturdays and Sundays 10am-4pm. It's recommended (but not required) that you make appointments for tool pick-ups and drop-offs through our member login system. This ensures you get the tools you want and makes it easier for us to find your items before you arrive.

 Can I drop off tools after hours?

Bigtime nope!
In order to ensure tools don't get lost or damaged they need to be returned during our open hours. If you drop off tools at our building after hours we may cancel your membership.

 How does this whole thing work?

It's better than tool rental it's tool borrowing! If you want your toolbox to include every tool that can fit into a 1000 square foot room, sign up for a tool library card! You choose what you pay for one year's access and we provide access to a large collection of tools for you to borrow.

 Are you a nonprofit or a business?

 YES.
South Bend Tool Library is an outreach of ContainArt Community Corporation, a local community development organization in South Bend,  IN.  We are an officially incorporated nonprofit organization with 501(c)3 federal tax-exempt status.

 What if I don't know anything about tools?

That’s great! The South Bend Tool Library is a space to ask questions, get advice, and try new things. You do not need to be an expert to borrow tools or visit us - a library is for everyone.

 Do you host classes or workshops?

 YES!

 In conjunction with ContainArt Community and other partnerships we provide trade education and workshops. Learn about these opportunities 

 Are you hiring?

 Nope!

 We currently don’t have the operating budget. We are 100% volunteer-run.
